Another great day! We are still settling into our routine. Ms. Carey assessed the students on some of their math skills to get an idea of what she and I need to work on with them.
We finished our "Classroom Code of Conduct Book." We illustrated it as a class. We also started our Bio Poem. Hopefully we can get it finished tomorrow so we can get them up on the bulletin board out in the hallway. Once we have them up, we will take a picture and post it.
Since tomorrow is Friday, wear your Be Kind shirts if you have one!

Today was another full day! The students were introduced to Mountain Language. It is a language skill program that they will do every morning when they get to school. Some of the skills we talked about were prefixes and suffixes along with compund words. It is a great program that the students will do every week practicing the various language skills they need to master by the end of 2nd grade. We moved desks into groups of 4. So far so good. I am sure we will change that a thousand times throughout the year!

Today was AWESOME! We had three more students join our class, including our little guy who broke his arm over the weekend in two places and had to have surgery. We worked on math facts and the students enjoyed playing "Around the World" flash card game.

Welcome back to school! The first day of school has been awesome. So many new faces and names to learn but I'm up for the challenge. Today we had 14 students however 1 left early because his broken arm was hurting. 
The students who stuck around made beautiful flowers and on each petal they wrote something special about themselves. So far I know pet names, favorite colors, and favorite tv shows.

So much work goes in to preparing for the first day of school. I hope everyone enjoys getting to know each other. This will be the very first time that students will have the opportunity to blog (that means write about topics on a website) from our classroom on this website. We can take pictures and videos and put them on our blog so your family and friends at home can see what you are doing in school.
