A.M. and P.M.

Materials:
• Things I Do During the day blank books (easy to make…In the Morning I…, In the Afternoon I…., etc)
• Sample book
• Pencil
• Color pencil
• Chart paper

Objectives for 1st grade:
Recite the months of the year in order; use a calendar to identify days, weeks, months, and year; read time to the nearest hour; distinguish between day and night. [3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.9]

Procedure:
1. Teacher will review A.M. and P.M. with students.
2. Teacher will ask students what they do during the day.
3. Teacher will chart students’ response.
4. Teacher will show students a sample of a book of THINGS I DO DURING THE DAY.
(In the morning I ……… Eat breakfast (A.M.)

Students will use the responses on the chart paper to help create their own books. The students will draw a picture of what they do at that time of day, label it, and write if it is A.M. or P.M. Then they can share with the class.
